Day 1
Drive south to Carlisle and take the A595 to Thursby then the A596 to Maryport on the west coast and continue down the A595 towards Ravensglass

Day 2
Drive inland to Buttermere then continue south down the B5289 over the Honister Pass to Seatoller before heading north again up by Derwentwater to Keswick.

- Visit Muncaster Castle
- Take a walk at Moss Force Waterfall
- Have fabulous fish and chips at the Old Keswickian Sit in or take away.

Day 3
Enjoy the delights of Keswick. Especially on a Thursday and Saturday when the local market is on.
Things to see and do
- Eat at The Horse and Farrier Inn at Thelkeld
- See a show at The Theatre by the Lake
- Visit Portiscale – lovely café Chalet Tea rooms – deli plates and pizza
- Whinlatter Forest Park – lots of trails and bike hire
- Walk up Catsbells on the west side of the lake for fantastic views
- Take a drive and go and see the spectacular waterfalls at Aira Force Waterfall

Day 4
Drive south to Ambleside (rather than Windemere as is quieter and easier to park). Continue south taking the A593 to Coniston.

- Lots of great places to eat
- Day ticket on boat around Lake Windemere
- Hawkshead – Beatrix Potter House
- Walk: Tarn Hows circular 6 mile walk from Hawkshead

Day 5
Take the B5285 east to the head of the lake then turn south down the east side of the lake and continue south to Grange-over-Sands.
Things to see and do
- Stop for coffee and cake at The Terrace Coffee House on Coniston Water
- Visit pretty village of Cartmel and have a sticky toffee pudding at the village shop
- Visit Cartmel Priory
- Visit Holker Hall and Gardens
