Travel onwards towards Skye through the magnificent Kintail Glen and soak up the history of Scotland’s Jacobite rebellion. Stop to visit the iconic Eilean Donan Castle, perched on a small tidal island and a photographers dream.
On Skye, explore the Fairy Pools, Quiraing, and Old Man of Storr as well as enjoying a visit to Talisker Whisky. Take the Glenelg Ferry back onto the mainland or the ferry from Skye to Mallaig and drive along the Road to the Isle then south through Argyll to Oban.
In Oban, savour fresh seafood and visit McCaig’s Tower for stunning views across the harbour. Finally, journey through Argyll to discover Inveraray Castle, Loch Fyne, and picturesque coastal villages. This adventure blends history, nature, and culture in Scotland’s most breathtaking landscapes.
Day 1
From Four Seasons Campers (Loch Lomond Base) head north on the A82 through Glencoe and on to Fort William.
Things to see and do:
• Stop at pretty village of Luss on Loch Lomond
• Get last minute suppliers at Green Welly Stop at Tyndrum
• Enjoy ‘healthy’ fish and chips from The Real Food Café in Tyndrum
• Stretch your legs along part of the West Highland Way at Bridge of Orchy and enjoy some great pub food at The Bridge of Orchy Hotel
• Visit National Trust Glencoe Visitors Centre
• Walk to the hidden valley in Glencoe
• Stop at Loch Leven Seafood Café

Day 2
From Fort William continue up the A82 to Fort Augustus and Loch Ness and north to Invermoriston then head west on A887 to the A87 through Glen Sheil and along Loch Duich to Eilean Donan Castle at Dornie. Then head north to Kyle of Lochalsh and over the bridge to Skye (a detour into Plockton is nice for something to eat). Drive along the A87 north through Skye to Sligachan then A863 west and then south down to Glenbrittle.
Things to see and do:
• At Fort Augustus you can enjoy the yachts sailing through the locks that make up the Caledonian Canal
• Look out for Nessie the mythical monster at Loch Ness
• Eilean Donan Castle
• Plockton – great seafood at Plockton Inn

Day 3
Enjoy pottering around Skye and head north towards Dunvegan then around the coast to camp at Loch Greshornish or Kinloch campsite near Dunvegan.

• Edinbane Hotel for great pub food and live music some nights in summer

Day 4
Drive around to the pretty fishing village of Portree on east of Skye then head south to Broadford and take the A851 to Armadale and get the ferry over to Mallaig then drive south 10 miles to the beautiful white sand beaches of Arisaig and either camp at one of the many campsites or wild camp beside the beach. Things to do:
• Visit the colourful town of Portree on Skye
• Get the West Highland Jacobite steam train between Mallaig and Fort William (or vise versa) (made famous by the Hogwarts Express in Harry Potter)
• View the Glenfinnan viaduct and monument at the head of Loch Sheil
• Visit Camusdarach Beach made famous in Scottish film ‘Local Hero.’

Day 5
Head south towards Fort William and then onto the A82 towards Ballahulish. Take the A828 south from here towards Oban, with a detour into Port Appin for lunch then continue down to Oban. After visiting Oban head north again to the Connel Bridge and east on the A85 to Lochawe then take the A819 south to Inverary and round Loch Fyne onto the A83 over to Tarbert and Loch Lomond. Drive round the south of the Loch to one of the campsites on the east side of Loch Lomond (the one on the west side is only open to full club members).
Things to see and do:
• View the Glenfinnan viaduct and monument at the head of Loch Sheil
• Visit the pretty village of Port Appin and walk round the headland then eat at The Pierhouse Restaurant for lunch
• Visit Macaigs Tower in Oban
• Visit the standing stones and burial cairns in Kilmartin Glen
•Visit the fairy tale castle at Inverary
• Eat at The George Hotel Inverary for lunch
• Eat at the Oaktree Inn Balamaha
