Things to do in Edinburgh - Walking

There are 7 hills in Edinburgh offering fantastic views over the city and the Firth of Forth. Arthurs Seat, located at the bottom of the Royal Mile, Calton Hill near Edinburgh Waverly Train Station and Castle Rock (where Edinburgh Castle stands) are favourites of those visiting Edinburgh thanks to their close location to the city centre. The other 4 hills are quieter if you are looking to escape the crowds and include Blackford Hill, Braid Hill, Costorphine Hilland Craiglockhart hill. 

The Meadows and the Bruntsfield Links are large open green areas just south of the city centre and are perfect for a morning walk or lunch time picnic! The Meadows offers excellent views of Arthurs Seat, whilst the Bruntsfield Links offer great views of Edinburgh Castle. 

From Holyrood where the Scottish Parliament and His Royal Highness King Charles Edinburgh residence is, you can walk up the beautiful and historic Royal Mile to Edinburgh Castle.
